3 years after the installation of the first HDPE (high-density polyethylene) regranulation and drying line, the Drulingen site has welcomed a new machine capable of producing pellets from recycled plastic flakes. The new line strengthens our production by enabling us to obtain and control the quality of the recycled material that we incorporate. This approach reflects our CSR commitments: transforming 4,000 tons per year of recycled raw material into our products.
Our supply of recycled material
Upstream of the regranulation line, we have installed an optical sorter, in the testing phase since March 2025, to facilitate our supply of recycled material. The flakes we use for regranulation come from industrial packaging waste that has been previously shredded and washed by a recycler. The optical sorter offers several advantages: whereas we were previously limited to purchasing big bags of single-color flakes, we can now expand our sourcing to mixed-color big bags known as “floréals,” for which we remove the unwanted colors and obtain uniformly colored pellets at the end of the line. Besides color, the sorter helps eliminate impurities (labels and unusable plastic) that can harm the quality of the packaging. The sorter is an essential step to ensure the quality of the pellets we produce, thereby increasing our production of packaging from recycled material.
